Leaders at Aletheia Church Gainesville

Kevin was born and raised in Virginia, graduating from James Madison University in 2008 with a degree in Kinesiology.

In 2012, Kevin moved to Gainesville with his wife, son and 15 other people to start a new church, which became Aletheia Church Gainesville. He serves as Lead Pastor, and you can find him most weeks either preaching/teaching on stage or in the back around the coffee.

Kevin loves his wife, 2 kids (Gideon and Josiah), and pretty much any sport, both watching and playing.

Theo was born in South Florida and after 14 years moved to North Florida just outside of Gainesville. He graduated from the University of Florida after high school. He began his career as a middle and high school teacher for 10 years. He also helped plant a church in Jacksonville in 2011.

He visited Aletheia for the first time in November of 2017. He loves the community and the focus on God's Word. He serves as the administrative pastor overseeing the church's operations.

Theo loves to play board games, cards, and watch TV shows and movies. He really enjoys outdoor activities as well like hiking and fishing. His favorite verse of Scripture is Exodus 20:1.

David was born in Cuba and moved to Gainesville at the age of 8. He completed a bachelors in health science at UF and a masters degree from FGCU. He is an Occupational Therapist at the local rehab hospital.

Upon completion of his master's degree David moved back to Gainesville at which time he and his now wife began to visit Aletheia due to a connection David had made with Kevin back in 2012 when they were still in the church planting days. He currently serves as a lay elder: teaching, preaching, and leading the first impressions team.

David loves his wife Brittany, their daughter Lucy, and their giant golden retriever Aslan. They enjoy walks and beach trips together. He also loves to read, teach, and anything sport related.

Bill was born in Ogden, Utah, and moved frequently growing up as the son of a U.S. Air Force father. He came to Gainesville in 1990 to attend the University of Florida, where he earned a degree in Chemistry (1994) and an MBA (1997).

Bill has been engaged in local church ministry in Gainesville for over 35 years, teaching the Bible to college students, young adults, and families. He and his wife Christa have been married for 30 years and have three adult children — Ana, Michael, and Johanna — as well as a grandchild. Since fall of 2023, Bill has been attending Aletheia Church, where he serves as an elder.

Bill loves spending time with his family (including his dog and cat) and practices taekwondo, holding a 4th degree black belt.

Matt served as the Director of Technology for an education policy center at the University of Florida, where he also ministered bi-vocationally as a college pastor while attending NOBTS. He first encountered Aletheia when it was first planted while doing monthly prayer meetings with Kevin and other local pastors. He later transitioned into a learning leadership role at a remote global software company—work that allowed him to move to Turkey in 2020—a lifelong dream after representing UF in a sports festival in Istanbul each summer he was in college.

Matt and his wife, Jess, returned to Gainesville from Istanbul in 2023 and adopted their son Caleb in 2024. He currently serves as an elder at Aletheia and is passionate about discipleship and church health.

He enjoys cooking for others, outdoors activities, traveling to explore culture, food and coffee, volunteering in pet therapy at UF Health with Jess and his golden retriever, Koda.

Jeff was born in Arlington, Texas, and moved to Florida at age 7. He studied journalism and education at the University of North Florida and received his Bachelor of Ministry from Trinity Evangelical Seminary of Naples in 1997. Jeff served in pastoral roles at two previous churches, and with a global missions organization in project management. Besides his part-time role at Aletheia, he serves another local church supporting the pastoral staff in strategic leadership.

When his family first visited Aletheia in Spring 2019, Jeff was struck by the authentic worship and depth of Biblical teaching. He serves as Community Pastor, supporting our Gospel Communities and Common Interest Groups. He also helps new attendees integrate into the Aletheia community, oversees the teams who lead men, women, and family (marriage + parenting) ministries, and supervises our internship program.

Jeff and his wife Kem have three (fantastic) adult children, one (wonderful) daughter-in-law, and two (adorable) granddaughters. He’s grateful for his family’s involvement at Aletheia. Jeff enjoys exercise, the arts, anything written by Tolkien, bass guitar, metalcore, kayaking, and long conversations over good food and coffee.

Jamie grew up in Windermere, Florida, and earned her bachelor's degree in Materials Science and Engineering from Clemson University. In 2016, she relocated to Gainesville to pursue and complete her doctorate at the University of Florida.

Since January 2024, Jamie and her family have attended Aletheia Church, where she quickly became involved in Aletheia Jr. She now serves as Children's Ministry Director, teaching the Gospel to the next generation.

Jamie and her husband, Birk, are parents to two wonderful children, Jackson and Ellie. In her free time, she loves long walks, running, great coffee, and enjoying meals with friends and family.

Josh was born in Florida but was raised in Pittsburgh, PA (Go Steelers!) until 2011 when his family moved to Gainesville. He graduated from the University of Florida in the fall of 2018 in Construction Management and now works for Foresight CGI. He's proud to be husband and father to the most incredible wife and son, Ruth Ann and Judah.

He first visited Aletheia in the Fall of 2017, and was immediately drawn the strong gospel centered messages and community. He has had the privilege to serve as the Worship Leader since the end of 2018.

Josh loves being around people and, just like Isaiah, holds firmly to the adage that, "it's not what you do, but who you're doing it with." This includes studying theology, music, card/board games, and any sport you can name.

Brandon was born and raised in Ocala, Florida. He graduated from UF in 2020 with a computer science degree and currently works remotely for SanDisk. He's husband to the lovely Kara Payne.

He first started attending Aletheia in 2018. Brandon and Kara left Gainesville in early 2020 and returned a year and a half later, and they have been faithful members of Aletheia ever since. He has been serving on the tech team since 2022 and currently serves as the tech director.

Brandon enjoys playing disc golf, pickleball, and board games. He also enjoys hiking and playing with his crazy Australian Shepherd.

Abby was born and raised in Georgia and moved to Gainesville, Florida, in August 2024 when her husband, Brandon, began pursuing his graduate degree. After high school, she attended Word of Life Bible Institute in New York and later earned a B.A. in Global Studies from Truett McConnell University.

Abby was introduced to Aletheia through friends who connected her with the church community and a job opening. She now serves as the Administrative Assistant, supporting the staff and ministries of the church.

She and Brandon welcomed their first child in March 2025. Abby enjoys spending time outdoors, baking, reading, drinking coffee, and being with friends and family.

Isaiah was born and raised in Florida. He graduated from the University of Florida where he currently works as a multimedia specialist.

He first visited Aletheia in the spring of 2015 and fell in love with the gospel focus and community. He has attended ever since. He now serves as the Creative Director, overseeing tech and social media for the church.

Isaiah loves being around people and holds firmly to the ideal that, "it's not what you do, but who you're doing it with." He enjoys deep conversations, pickleball, swimming, Agricola, Catan, long walks, and watching TV.

Sage Marrs is a third-year Health Sciences Major on the pre-med track and the new Intern for Aletheia. He was born in Kansas City and now lives in Sarasota, Florida, though he still holds tightly to his roots and loves some good barbecue and the Chiefs.

At Aletheia Jr., I serve as the toddler curriculum leader and volunteer, where I design engaging lessons and crafts to help kids learn about God in simple and meaningful ways. This role has allowed him to combine his passion for teaching with his faith while serving the community.

Outside of Aletheia, He is an avid runner and die-hard sports fan. When he's not around sports, he loves to bake and watch Christopher Nolan films.
